Training Ride 4/29/12

I did not recover well last night, probably due to only getting 5 hours of sleep combined with so many hours in the saddle yesterday.  This ride was pure hell, but in a way it is fitting because it's the last ride of the month and it a month with over 1,000 miles of suffering should end in a sufferfest.

Training Ride 4/28/12

Whew, now this was a long one!  I went really hard and I'm completely wiped.  I would have taken pics as I planned, but it was overcast and crappy, aka not good for photography.  Anyway, I need a shower so bad and a lunch even worse.

Training Run 4/26/12

That was slow.  I was sore for days after my first 5k run, so I figured in the interests of not hurting myself I should start slower and run single miles at a time until that stops hurting me, and then move up the distance.  My knees hurt a bit on this run, which contributed to the slowness.  But honestly, at this point building up my joints and muscles to the stress of a new exercise is more important than being fast.

Training Ride 4/26/12

Another week of pre-dawn rides draws to a close.  Went for 35 miles this morning down to Ft. Pierce.  It was a fine ride, with a bit warmer weather than the first two rides this week.  All in all, not a terrible way to end the week and lead into the weekend ahead.   Probably going to go on a short run tonight before dinner.  Later.

Training Ride 4/25/12

Hey all.  It was cold this morning.  The normal low temperature in April is 62* and this morning it was 46*.  I'm not happy about this.  Wearing full winter cycling gear in April blows.  Either way, I've hit my monthly goal and it is somewhat appropriate that the goal breaking ride was painful.

Training Ride 4/24/12

Oh my.  I'm having trouble believing that we could have such a strong cold front come through this far into spring, but it is.  I did not think I'd be wearing cold weather cycling gear again until December, but this week will beg to differ.  Anyway, I'm close to closing the month out and tomorrow I should hit my monthly mileage goal towards my meta-goal of 10k annually.

Training Ride 4/22/12

Whew!  After that run this morning doing 50 miles suddenly became difficult.  I also pushed it somewhat hard so my legs are good and sore.  And the best medicine for sore legs is a nice lunch, so if you don't mind...

Training Run 4/22/12

Got running shoes, went for my first "real" run ever.  26:57 doesn't bad for the first 5k I ever ran, but you tell me.

Training Ride 4/21/12

Yeah, three hours on the TT bike is about my limit of patience.  How Ironmen do five hours and the run a marathon I'll never know.  Anyway, I was glad to get a relatively long one in with the forecast calling for significant rain.

Training Ride 4/191/12

Took the TT bike for a spin up to Golden Sands and back.  It really is shocking how fast this thing is.  All in all, a nice way to end the week.  The weather forecast for the weekend is not pretty so hopefully I can keep the awesome month I've had so far going.

Training Ride 4/18/12

The grind continues to some unknown end.  This route is weird, I don't really like it, but it seems better than other routes for some reason.  I dunno why but I keep doing it even though I dislike it.  I suppose every route has its annoyances at 4am, so I just deal with it, and maybe this one just has fewer annoyances.  I'm not sure.  I'll probably take the TT bike out tomorrow morning to change things up, weather permitting.

Training Ride 4/17/12

Good morning, and hello to another week of training rides.  Went a few extra miles today because the weather looks bad later in the week and on Saturday, so I may need to get in the work now if I can't then.  And if I can then, all the better.

Training Ride 4/15/12

I'm exhausted.  It was super windy and hot.  All told, it was a great ride.

Training Ride 4/14/12

I planned to do 80-100 miles this morning, but it was insanely windy, overcast and wet.  Conditions like that make going for 5 hours not so fun, and due to that I decided to cut it to a short metric century.

Training Ride 4/12/12

What a way to end the week.  A balls out fast ride up to Treasure Shores and back on the TT bike.  As much as I love my long weekend rides, I also love cutting lose on the TT bike on a shorter ride and just hauling ass.

Training Ride 4/11/12

Forgot to set my alarm last night, whoops.  That means I had to audible to an after-work ride, so I took the opportunity to do a bit more distance than I normally do on my morning rides.  I went to the Sebastian Inlet and back really hard, I wanted to exceed a 20mph pace and I did that.  Weather was gorgeous and I had some aggro music blasting in my earbuds, which made keeping a fast pace easy as pie.

Training Ride 4/10/12

Powering right into the week.  Typical weekday route, went relatively hard.  No wind this morning which is a nice change after a weekend of brutally strong wind.  I'm optimistic that the rest of the week will be pretty good.

Training Ride 4/8/12

Happy Easter!  But more importantly, Happy Paris-Roubaix, which is a much bigger event in my book.  I did a really brutal ride yesterday, and I decided to do another one today.  Weekends are so rare relative to the work week, and the weather was so beautiful this weekend that I felt like doing some mega miles.  Now I get to relax, watch Paris-Roubaix and prepare myself mentally for work.

Training Ride 4/7/12

Long, hard ride up to Grant Road and back today.  Lake effect winds of 20+mph in my face on the way up and at my back on the way home.  I'm thoroughly cooked.  Brutal, brutal ride.  Can't wait for tomorrow morning to do it again!

Training Ride 4/5/12

Went extra long today because it's the last of the week.  Great ride, this whole week was great actually.  Broke up the drudgery of these early morning rides by doing 3 very different routes.  It worked out well and I'm energized for the weekend.

Training Ride 4/4/12

Not a bad morning ride at all.  Warm, dry and no wind so I have zero to complain about.  I would prefer if the sun was up, but what can you do when you have to work a job?  Anyway, the typical weekday route.  Not sure what, if anything, special I'll do to end the week tomorrow.  Depends on the wind direction most likely.

Training Ride 4/3/12

Did some bridge loops.  Fairly boring ride, but not dangerous at all because it is 100% lit.  I may occasionally add this route to my regular rides.  Nice weather, though.

Training Ride 4/1/12

Good morning, 'baggers.  What a way to start off April, eh?  Absolutely perfect weather, mild temps, very little wind, and sunny.  I took the opportunity to do a long 70 miler out to Fellsmere and back.  I was a bit worried I wouldn't have the legs for it after my hard ride in the hills yesterday, but I not only did it with ease, but I did it really fast too.  I feel like I'm getting really good form again, but that may be psychological with this amazing spring weather.  Who knows?
